Handling Instructions

VERY VERY IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE OPENING YOUR PRINT!

Please do not open the tube immediately. We recommend waiting until you take the print to your framer, who is experienced in handling these materials and has an appropriate working surface.

If You Choose to Open the Tube Yourself, Please Follow These Steps Carefully:

  1. Avoid Contact with the Printed Image:

    • The printed surface is sensitive to the oils in your skin.
    • Wear cotton gloves as a precaution.
    • If gloves are unavailable, handle the photograph only by its white borders or the back; do not touch the printed surface.
  2. Prepare a Clean, Flat Surface:

    • Choose a large, flat area (such as a dining table or desk) where you can unroll the print.
    • Clear the space and wipe it clean.
    • Allow the surface to dry completely before proceeding.
  3. Have Necessary Supplies Ready:

    • The print may roll back onto itself during unrolling, so have paper weights, magazines, or other heavy objects on hand to secure the corners.
    • Use the provided tissue paper to protect the photograph as it flattens.

Following these guidelines will help ensure that your print remains in optimal condition. Enjoy your artwork!

How to Handle Your Print Safely

  1. Opening the Tube:

    • Remove the packaging tape along the edge.
    • Pop the white lid out.
    • Caution: Do not use sharp objects to remove the lid, as this may scratch the print.
  2. Removing the Print:

    • Carefully pull the print straight out from the tube.
    • Avoid pulling at an angle to prevent the edges of the cardboard tube from damaging the print.
  3. Removing the Securing Paper:

    • Use a sharp knife or scissors to carefully cut the tape securing the paper around the print.
    • Note: Do not wiggle the paper off, as this can cause damage.
  4. Unrolling the Print:

    • Even after removing the tape and paper, the print may remain curled.
    • Unroll the print slowly in small sections rather than all at once.
    • Place your hand on the back of the paper and gradually lower the print, keeping the tissue paper side down.
    • Add a weight or magazine to each corner to hold it down until the print is completely flat.
  5. Flattening the Print:

    • Leave the print lying flat and face down for 5 days to allow it to fully flatten.
    • Important: Do not attempt to flip or turn the print on the day it is removed from the tube. Flipping it too soon may cause it to spring back and become damaged.
    • When you do turn the print over, handle only the white borders to avoid touching the printed surface.

Following these steps will help ensure that your print remains in excellent condition.
